I write

To fill their eyes

And find a new light

To look upon

Our brown boxed world

Where poetry

Is the only break

From the restraints

  1. Someone needs to project this onto the world. There’s always something lost in the line-by line form in poetry, I think- but words as a continuous string, you could break them wherever you liked.
“I write to fill their eyes and find a new light to look upon our brown boxed world, where poetry is the only break from the restraints of ourselves.”
(reminds me of Sylvia Plath and Anais Nin in so many ways, both are dearly cherished favorites.)
