  1. It’s beautiful work, Isabella. I’m fascinated by the different techniques painters use and how brushstrokes and colors come together in pictures we recognize. I look forward to seeing what you do with a landscape.

  2. It’s breathtaking Bella. ♥

I’m glad you posted it so large, the details are wonderful.
You have captured your essence so well. It’s very tender.

I’m excited to see landscapes too!

  3. Wow! Love the energy in your strokes and the tiny abstractions within the piece itself. A wonderful painting-not to mention that a self-portrait presents it’s own challenges. You’ve created a really fine work.

  4. I’m Ian and Eva’s grandmother in North Carolina, and I see your art and fashions via Gwyn. I really enjoy seeing your talents come to life. Your self portrait is beautiful! I look forward to seeing your landscapes and even more fashions.

  5. Which is amazing in this portrait is the likeness with your dear Mum which transfigures. Even better than on a photo. Fantastic work is an understatement. I love it :)

  6. Congratulations Isabella!!! Your self-portrait is PERFECT! I love EVERYTHING about it from the colors to the dripping paint to the direction your eyes are looking to the brush strokes. Oh Isabella, you are so incredibly talented!!!! This is just WONDERFUL!!!

  7. Isabella, I have to say that my wife and I both sat and marveled at this portrait of yours, and we agree that it is fantastic. The use of colour, the depth in the eyes, perfect nose and mouth. Bravo!!!

  8. Firstly, thanks for your likes and comments at rewired. What an amazing girl you are. To be doing all these things at your age is simply extraordinary. The site you’ve been visiting is a resource site for art, design and photography teachers. I was surprised that you found things that were of interest, but being a member of Mensa, I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised.
If you scroll down the right side or REWIRED you’ll come to a subset of links under the heading of ‘my other sites’ it will give you a better idea of my practice as an artist.
However, having said that I thought you might find it interesting to look at the works of Cherry Hood (best to do an image search as website links are primarily to galleries that only have samples). She paints large scale watercolor images, often portraits. She’s an Australian artist with a substantial international reputation. There might be something there for you that you can use further down the line. All the best for your future as an artist and designer. Your parents must be proud of you and you are lucky that they recognize and support you talent.
    Amazing.

    • Dear Mr. Poulton
First I need to tell you how much I really appreciate your comment!! I went straight away and looked at CHerry Hood – totally incredible- a million thanks for referring me to her work. But then I went to your work and WOW your photography is out of this world. Your art book folios were just amazing – is it ink? charcoal? pencil? or a combination? Really fantastic. The excerpt from Eliot Eisner’s book that you posted was great – I had to copy it and keep it ! You are an incredible artist and teacher. I really love your blog and look forward to many returns. I appreciate your support and kind words. You really made my day :)
